Candlelight Vigil for Delhi Rape Victim – 2/12 @ 5:30pm

On December 16th 2012, a young med student was brutally raped and beaten on a bus in Delhi and later died from the injuries she sustained. The attack caused an uproar throughout India over the police response, the lack of safety, and the treatment of women. The young girl is one of thousands of women who are raped and beaten all over India, and one of millions all over the world. Please join ISA, SARVA, CRY, and API Chaya in a candlelight vigil to remember the victim and to stand up against sexual violence.

Afterwards, API Chaya will lead a discussion on the position and treatment of women in South Asia and South Asian communities abroad, and what we can do to change such trends.

The vigil starts at 5:30pm on February 12th in Red Square, after which we will move to Gowen 201 for the discussion led by API Chaya.
